Each CD has all the files need to use the Aldus Fetch Browser catalog. This will allow you to start from any CD in your set.
We have found some CD drivers for the Macintosh may have problems switching CD╒s. This may cause a system lockup, long delays, or many extra disk swaps.
There are three ways to avoid this potential problem, and improve performance;
1- Copy the FETCH.APP;1 and WRLDBANK.FTC;1 (the thumbnail catalogue) files to your
hard disk (Best solution, recommended for speed as well). The catalog and Aldus Fetch
Browser require 23 Megabytes of disk space.
2- Quit the Aldus Fetch Browser application before swapping a CD, and launch the catalog
from next disk, if necessary.
There is a copy of the thumbnail catalog and all necessary support files on each CD.
3- Update your CD-ROM drive software.
Notes on using Aldus Fetch:
------------------------
You may have to show the Aldus Fetch in which folder some items may be. In addition
Aldus Fetch may request to know where an application (program) is to edit the images.
Aldus Fetch Browser uses the QUICKTIME(tm) display extension to draw the thumbnails. If it is not already installed or is an incompatible version, drag the 'QUIKTIME.EXT' file to your SYSTEM:EXTENSIONS folder and RESTART.
In addition to the annotations accompanying every image, our Fetch catalog has been created
with several keywords and categories. You can add these extra categories and keywords to your Aldus Fetch Browser search menu by using the Define command on the Search menu.
All the Keywords may be referenced in the Catalog Info window.
